The Lost Goldmine Trail runs along the base of the Superstition Mountains between Broadway Road near Apache Junction and the end of Peralta Road east of Gold Canyon. It crosses approximately 9 miles of beautiful Sonoran Desert foothills immediately adjacent to the Superstition Wilderness. The landscape and the towering cliffs above are breathtaking. Desert Bighorn sheep sightings are not uncommon there are many other plant and animal species roaming the area also.
Hours of use: The trail and all trailheads are open from 5 am-10 pm.
Please note: There is currently no legal trail connection from the west end of Cloudview, north to the Arizona State Land boundary (gate). Please respect private property rights and do not trespass on private property in this area. Open Space and Trails staff is currently working on a solution for this issue. Please email us at [email protected] if you have any questions. Thank you for your patience.
Please note: Parking at the Cloudview Trailhead is very limited. Spaces fill up quickly, especially in the busy season, from October through March. Please plan accordingly and have an alternative option in mind if the lot is full. Please respect all posted no parking and no trespassing signs. If the trailhead parking is full, please try the Lost Goldmine East Trailhead.
No buses or vehicles / trailers longer than 37 feet are allowed in the parking area. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed; before recreating, please be sure your vehicle is not parked in a no-parking zone. Vehicles illegally parked will be towed at the owner's expense.
