The Pinal County Sheriff's Office may provide funding to non-profit organizations (IRS 501 (c)(3) status) to support programs that: assist victims of criminal racketeering offenses listed in A.R.S. § 13-2301(D)(4); prevent substance abuse or gang activity in the community; and/or educate the community on substance abuse or gang activity. Funding for these programs comes from funds recovered from criminals or criminal activity under Arizona Anti-Racketeering enforcement actions by our Asset Recovery Bureau, and these funds are subject to certain State and Federal program requirements.
By law, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office is only authorized to disperse $25,000 dollars per year towards community-related projects. Understanding this allows each organization the insight to know that while PCSO will do our best to help as many organizations as we can, we are limited each year by these caps.
There are several steps in the RICO application and approval process. First, organizations must fill out the application by clicking here Version OptionsRico RequestHeadline to request funds.
In your application, please upload a cover letter detailing the reason for needing funds and explain how the money will be used to prevent drug and gang activity in the community.
Finally, an itemized budget in sufficient detail to provide information regarding how RICO money will be spent, including all receipts relating to items purchased for the program is also required. If awarded RICO funds, your organization will be reimbursed for the specifically approved expenditure(s).
Each application is reviewed by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and the Pinal County Attorney’s Office to determine whether the request meets state and federal guidelines.
