Palo Verde Regional Park

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved the Palo Verde Regional Park Cooperative Recreation Management Area Plan in December 2016.  County staff worked with the Bureau of Land Management on the completion of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the first phase of this facility.  The EA was completed in the fall of 2022 and included a Plan of Development, a biological assessment, and a cultural resources assessment.

At the completion of the EA process, BLM issued a Recreation and Public Purposes lease to Pinal County in October of 2022 for approximately 6,000 acres (the northern portion of the planned park facility identified in the original Management Plan from 2016) and Right of Way for approximately 20 miles of non-motorized, multi-use trails.

County staff is now beginning the design and engineering planning phase of the project and is focused on the Farrell Road Trailhead and Campground as the first portion of this development.  A more precise development timeline and cost estimate (including possible funding sources) will come from the initial design and engineering work.
