This is an entry-level trainee position. Upon successful completion of the training period, individuals in this classification are eligible for a non-competitive promotion to the Emergency Dispatcher position.
This is a fast-paced, high volume, 24 hour/7 day per week emergency communications center position. The Emergency Dispatcher's function is to answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service using a multi-line telephone and 911 systems; it is vital that these duties are carried out quickly, efficiently, and accurately. This position is subject to shift work, and must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
If you meet the minimum qualifications of this position, you may be invited to take the CritiCall test. This test determines your level of skillset in areas applicable to the position. You must pass with a satisfactory score in order to proceed in the process. The minimum passing grade is 35 wpm and an overall score of 75% or higher.
Oral Board Interview
Once you pass the CritiCall test, you may be scheduled for an oral board interview. (Usually on the same day as CritiCall)
If you receive a passing score and you are selected, you will be sent a link to sign in and answer questions, upload any documents required and you will have seven (7) days to complete.
You will meet with a Background Investigator to discuss your background history and go over all required documents and questions. You will need to have the following documents with you when you come for the background interview.
Birth Certificate, Naturalization Papers (Original Document) or Current Passport
High School Diploma, GED, or transcript with graduation date (Original Document) or higher education certificates/diplomas
Arizona Drivier's License (Original Document)
Social Security Card (Original Document)
Credit Report (Original Document) A Complete report is required on a thumb drive (only your score will not be accepted)
DD 214 Copy Member 4 if discharged from Military or Selective Service Registration (Original Document)
Once you have passed all steps, you may be extended an official offer and be scheduled a date to attend New Hire Orientation.
