San Tan Valley Special Area Plan

Plan Purpose

The purpose of this Area Plan is to examine the unique issues, concerns, and needs of the San Tan Valley (STV) area to establish public policy and guidance for future growth that will be more closely associated with the San Tan Valley community today, rather than the current county-wide Comprehensive Plan dated 2009.

Upon adoption, the STV Area Plan will deliver a more modern and coordinated approach to better assist STV residents and businesses, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors and staff, surrounding jurisdictions and local utility providers on future growth and supporting infrastructure objectives in STV.

Project Update

Thank you to all the residents, landowners, business owners, and organizations that participated in our initial series of San Tan Valley Area Plan Community Open House meetings held back in February. In total, we had over 500 community members participate in these inaugural meetings and the feedback we received was tremendous. Since these meetings, we have spent the summer gaining a deeper understanding of the San Tan Valley area, so that we can plan a stronger future.

The results of this enhanced analysis have been summarized in an Existing Conditions Report (PDF). This report covers a wide range of conditions in San Tan Valley including general background data, neighborhoods and community character, transportation and utility infrastructure, along with community services and health. The report also includes the input we received from the Community Open House meetings.
