Merissa Mendoza was appointed as Director of Public Health in January 2024, having served as Interim Director since February 2023.
Merissa began her Pinal County career in Public Health in 2011, working in the WIC program. She has served as a Nutritionist, Breastfeeding Coordinator, Nutrition Program Supervisor, and Division Manager for Nutrition and Vital Records.
Merissa earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Arizona State University and her Master's in Public Administration at Grand Canyon University. She holds the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant credentials.
Merissa also earned a culinary degree at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, and she enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her husband and two children.
